name：MoleAntonelliana position：via Alessandro riberi 11 time:1784-1861 architect:Alessandro Antonelli style:neoclassico, neogotico, eclettico
when i looked it in the first sight, i felt that i am familiar with this building without rhyme or reason, and then, i realized that is the building on the 2 cent euro coin! i cannot believe it because i just made a turn, the tall and sublime building was appear! just hidden by the intricate street, when you see it in the first sight, everyone should be shocked by the height of it.(167.5m，the tallest building in 19th century)
i observed this structure carefully,it can be decomposed into the following parts A base portion, a transition portion, a temple, a dome, and a tower portion. As for why the distinction between the various parts of the building so obvious,i found that it was designed as a The Jewish Temple(like the picture left from the internet)Below I will briefly explain what I observed the architectural features
at first,as we can see,the base is a symmetric polygon with embedded square pillars and the design of column is just like Corinthian column secondary, the transition portion consists of 20 equilateral cylindrical rectangles on each side but i can not see the detail inside ,BUT I TRY TO DRAW A vertical view, clearly. third,Square base dome is About 70 meters high and in 1873 Because the budget was insufficient , after the construction of the dome, architecture as a Jewish building had to be finished. and then,Between 1873 and 1885, Antoinelli successively completed part of the temple, part of the Lanterna and Genio Alato part of the building,And in 1906, by the architect Annibale Rigotti to add a copper five-pointed star, by Pozzo, Giberti engineer used concrete to complete reinforcement work
It is a combination of two thousand years of history of Turin, from the east gate of the ancient Roman colony of Julia Augusta Taurinorum in defensive fortified house, then to the Castle itself, symbol of Savoy power until at least the sixteenth century, when it was the favorite ‘ current Royal Palace, as the Duke of Savoy headquarters.
The western part of the first medieval complex, was then called the Senate because it was first inhabited by Madama Cristina of Bourbon-France, said the first Madama Reale, in the period 1620-1663 about, then by Marie Jeanne of Savoy, known as the second Madama Reale, in the period 1666-1724. It was the latter that the present façade was designed in 1716-1718, by the court architect Filippo Juvarra
This building is what I encountered in the Tour of Rome Street
I am interested in this building because of its positive and rear are two different architectural styles, the back scale is relatively large and well-preserved, looks like a fortress, the gap on the wall allows guns through, 4 Tower can look far enemy, no extra decoration, its style is serious and practical, make people shudder.
But the other side of the building is on the Piazza Castello, noble and elegant, more ornate decoration, it should be medieval Baroque architectural style, this part of the alteration is due in 1637 this building became Maria Cristina di Borbone di Francia, Reggente di Savoia Palace And residence.
and some picture inside the palazzo
I think that the original infrastructure in the renovation is extremely valuable
So that the building retains the style and history of each period, so that future generations can touch solidification of the real history ，that‘s what Italian architecture is worth learning by world’s architects.
